Welcome to 2008: First workshop

Posted: 3 March 2008

Hello everybody!

A warm welcome to all who signed up at the o-week stall… I am sure your time with us will be fun and interesting :-)

To the current crew: hope your holidays were fantastic… Afro drumming is now back in full swing!

This Wednesday we will be holding our first workshop / rehearsal for the semester. We meet at 5:30pm at North Court (just north of union house). The workshop will finish at about 7:30 at which time we often head to the pub for a drink and a meal.

The workshops revolve around the traditional percussion, song and dance from Ghana, West Africa. They are taught by Chris Lessar (and friends). All beginners welcome, and all drums, rattles, bells etc are provided!

Aside from workshops, we do gigs, the occasional camp, restaurant night and see a lot of the vibrant African music scene in Melbourne.

Also for those interested, Chris is now hosting a African Drumming subject, available from this year on.

Hope to see you all on Wednesday!

cheers
Jerry
